Hello from Dosbarth Bramble
Class teacher:
- Ms Jenkinson
Teaching Assistant:
- Mrs Morgan
PE:
Wednesday is our P.E. day. Please can children come to school in their P.E. kits (leggings/joggers, t-shirt, school jumper/cardigan and a pair of trainers*)
Swimming
Currently on Year 1 and Year 2 children are swimming. We swim on a Thursday morning. A bag that can be carried on their back, with costume/trunks, towel and goggles (if consent form received) will be required.
Reception children will begin lessons later in the year and more information will be sent home closer to the time.
Forest School:
Friday is our Forest School day. Please make sure your child has a coat in school. We provide waterproof trousers. The waterproof trousers are much easier to put on if your child is wearing trousers or leggings. Skirts and dresses tend to roll up inside the waistband and can be uncomfortable.
Reading
Your child will bring home new reading books regularly. Please try to read with your child as often as you can and write a comment in their reading record to let us know they have read at home. All children will sounds or words to practice too.
Book Bags
Book bags are available to buy from the school office for £6.00 if you wish.
Please bring book bags to school everyday. There will be a yellow Reading Record book for you to sign to letting us know when your child has read at home. Whilst the book bags are showerproof, please do not carry snacks and drink bottles in them as any spillage will cause soggy books!
Snack time
All children will be given the choice of milk or water at snack time. Please can you provide a piece of fruit (or vegetable if you prefer) for your child each day. If you feel your child is not able to eat a whole piece of fruit, please send up chopped fruit in a pot with their name on. Please remember to cut grapes in half vertically.
Water Bottles
It is important that the children have access to water at all times throughout the day. Please bring a water bottle to school each day and remember to write your child’s name on the bottle.
Playtimes
All children will need to keep a pair of wellies in school as they will be wearing wellies at playtime and lunchtime. As the weather is very changeable, please can you ensure your child has a coat in school everyday.
Birthdays
As we are a ‘Healthy School’ ,should you wish to celebrate your child’s birthday at school, we ask that you DO NOT bring in cakes or sweets. Alternatively, a selection of fruit can be bought in and shared with the class. Thank you for your co-operation.
Clothing and Shoes
We encourage children to be an independent as possible. Please can your child wear shoes that they can take off and put back on by themselves,; e.g. velcro fastenings or side zips, elasticated laces.
*To support us in tracking down mislaid items, please label all items of clothing (incl. shoes) as well as water bottles, lunch boxes and book bags. Thank you. Diolch
